The cholera epidemic has yet to say its last word in the town of Mbujimayi. According to the epidemiological bulletin of this Thursday, September 3, nearly twenty people are infected including two cases in the town of Duilu.

According to Doctor Sumba Katende, epidemiologist, the resurgence of cases is due to "the return of the rains with the consumption of unsuitable water. Because all (the waste) that was on the slope of the hills was brought back to the level of our sources ”.

And to add: people tend to have a defecation in the open air (…) When we take this water, we are becoming infected ”, especially since this water“ has not been treated, has not been boiled, we take it without having done anything, which is why we have a large number of cholera cases returning to the city ”.

Doctor Sumba Katende calls on the population to observe hygiene rules to avoid several cases in the town of Mbujimayi.

“We ask our community to obey the rules. It's boiling river water and tap water if you're not sure, "he urges.
